Welcome to the website of St John’s Sevenoaks

This year is a very special one for us as we celebrate our 150th birthday. Elsewhere you may read about the special events that we are hosting.

We are focusing on our calling to be a holy people, a learning people and a loving people. We do this because we strive to follow in the footsteps of Christ every day. We are not perfect and (sadly) we do not have angelic wings. In spite of our shortcomings we know that we are called to holiness; it seems daunting but we can do it if we follow Jesus. We meet every day to read the bible and break the bread as Jesus himself taught us to do and we do that in special ways on a Sunday.

Whether you are far or near we invite you to join us in our life as Christians. We can not promise you instant happiness, we can promise you joy. We can not promise you worldly riches but we can offer you to share in God’s love. We can not offer you honour or prestige but we can offer you to share with us the shame of the cross, the only road that takes us to the glories of Easter!

As Jesus once said to those who were searching, we say to you: “Come and see!”

We follow Jesus as members of his church. We are part of the Church of England and we live this experience as Anglo-Catholics. We are part of the Diocese of Rochester under the pastoral guidance of the Bishop of Fulham.
