Candlemas
The Year of Grace started in style.
At 6pm Mass started with the blessing of candles and procession. We carried the light inviting Him who is the Light to illuminate our Year of Grace. Our Preacher and guest of Honour, Dr Colin Podmore spoke to us about being torch bearers, holding the light of Christ by keeping the faith and proclaiming Jesus in our lives. His words filled us with courage as we knelt at the altar to open the Year of Grace.
After the Mass all in church assembled in the Hall for what turned out to be a very enjoyable evening. The choir sang the grace for us and entertained all with music and readings from the last 150 years. All had a very good time indeed. Dr Colin Podmore kindly accepted to launch this new website which was greeted with a very loud applause.
This evening saw the opening of the Year of Grace and indeed promises well. May the God of all grace fill us with his blessings.
