St John's Church of England Primary School is situated at the top of the hill in Bayham Road, with its main entrance in Kennedy Gardens. It was originally housed in a building opposite the church but this was demolished in the early 1970s to make way for flats. The school was then moved to Bradbourne Park Road and finally to its present premises (previously Bayham Road Boys School).

The school is a church school. A School Mass is celebrated each term. The Vicar of St John's is an ex-officio governor. Members of St John's serve on the Board of Governors.
A weekly service of Collective Worship is held in the church, and especially the Nativity Service, the Holy Week Service and the Leavers' Service at the end of the school year.
